Laparoscopic sigmoidectomy: clinical case

The patient B.A. appealed to the Nairi MC with complaints of bloating, flatulence, spotting with feces, weight loss. After a complex examination (ultrasound and CT contrasted examination of the abdominal cavity, a colonoscopy with a biopsy), the patient was diagnosed with a sigmoid colon tumor.
The surgery was performed - laparoscopy, laparoscopic resection of the sigmoid colon with restoration of intestinal integrity with the help of a stapling apparatus. The postoperative period proceeded smoothly. The patient was discharged on the 5th day in a satisfactory condition. Histological diagnosis - moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of the sigmoid colon.
P.S. In tumors of the large intestine, laparoscopic operations are a method of choice, which allows to intervent with minimal trauma, so that patients recover in much shorter periods. It is also allow performance of lymphodissection (removal of affected lymph nodes) more precise. After such intervention is also important the cosmetic effect. To restore the integrity of the intestine, only modern disposable staplers from well-known manufacturers are used.
