Nairi Medical Center is the leader in the field of Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery
The minimally invasive surgery is the type of the surgery that performed trough the very small (about 5mm) holes using the laparoscope. In many cases, the whole procedure can be performed even without those small holes but trough the vaginal route. For the operations performed inside the uterine cavity the hysteroscope is utilized.
The minimally invasive surgery has numerous advantages compared to classical open surgery performed through the abdominal incisions. Those advantages are: no scar, less postoperative pain, meticulously and safely performed operation due to the high res vision obtained by modern laparoscopes and advanced energy surgical instruments. Very recovery afwer the surgery is another important advantage of the minimally invasive surgery. The patients are discharged from the hospital on postoperative day 2 or 3 even after complex oncological procedures. Another crucial advantage of minimally invasive approach is its high safety and markedly low rate of postoperative complications.
Nairi Medical Center is the leader in the field of minimally invasive gynecological surgery.
The following minimally invasive operationsgical are available in our Hospital. The full list of the gynecological procedures performed in NAIRI Medical Center can be found on the webpage of Oncogynecology Clinic
1. The Laparoscopic Myomectomy.
It is the laparoscopic removal of uterine fibroids causes the minimal postoperative adhesions. It is important for those women who is planning the future pregnancies.
2. The Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
It is the most frequent procedure in gynecological surgery. The waste majority of hysterectomies are performed laparoscopically or vaginally in Nairi MC.
3. Pelvic Organ Prolapse.
The laparoscopic sacral colpopexy is the “gold standard” in the treatment of the uterine descent. The advantages of laparoscopy in these patients are the very high functional results, fast and painless postoperative course and low probability of the disease relapse.
4. Endometriosis Surgery
Endometriosis is a complex disease which may affect multiple pelvic and extra pelvic organs. A high surgical expertise and multi disciplinary approach required for surgical treatment of advanced stages.
Hysteroscopy is the type of endoscopic surgery utilized for intrauterine procedures. The intracavitary fibroids and septate uteruses are treated by surgical hysteroscope. The small diameter hysteroscope is available to remove uterine polyps and intrauterine adhesions.
6. The Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomy
This procedure is used in the treatment of early stages of cervical cancer. The modification of radical hysterectomy called the Total Mesometrial Resection is available in NAIRI Medical Center. This modification obtains 15-20% more survival with excellent functional results.
7. Laparoscopic comprehensive staging
This is a complex procedure that includes the uterus removal, pelvic lymphadenectomy, para-aortic lymphadenectomy and omentectomy. The comprehensive staging surgery may be used for surgical treatment of almost all gynecological malignancies depending on tumor stage and localization.
8. Sentinel node concept
This novel concept is based on the statement that the cancer cells of the primary malignant tumor are affecting not all but the certain regional lymph nodes called the SENTINEL LYMH NODES. A special dye is injected peri-tumorally prior to the surgery so as the sentinel lymph nodes are stained and can be easily found and removed during the surgery. Thus the unaffected healthy lymph nodes are spared and unnecessary traumatization of the patient can be avoided.
