November 20 is the day of the fight against chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (IBD) first appeared on the calendar in 2002. Thanks to the joint efforts of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Global Initiative for Health (GOLD). Every year, organizers in more than 50 countries around the world hold events to make the day the most important day of education, education, which this year has a unique motto: "All together to end COPD".

COPD is a progressive chronic inflammatory disease of the lungs that causes persistent obstruction of airflow, which, however, can be prevented.

Irina Khachatryan, a pulmonologist at Nairi Medical Center, says that the main causes of the disease are smoking, cigarette smoke, air pollution, volatile chemicals, and other harmful household conditions. It is worrying that a little over half of the adult men in Armenia are smokers.

According to the WHO, the prevalence of STDs in the world is about 10.1% ,with a mortality rate of 4. According to WHO forecasts, 2030 TKHO will be the third leading cause of death in the world.

The morbidity rate in Armenia is 6.2%. The fact is that the disease in the initial stage often proceeds with atypical symptoms, it is diagnosed later.

How to prevent STDs?

  • quit smoking
  • to avoid secondary cigarette smoke
  • spend a lot of time in the fresh air
  • Avoid frequent respiratory infections
  • Avoid chemical volatiles in the industrial dust,
  • use healthy food and create favorable living conditions

You should contact your doctor / pulmonologist in case of the following complaints

  • long - 2 months - more cough
  • abundant, sticky mucus
  • wheezing, shortness of breath
  • Compulsory restriction of physical activity
  • audible crackles while breathing

If chronic obstructive pulmonary disease has already been diagnosed, it is necessary

  • Permanent supervision of a doctor / pulmonologist spirometry.
  • Functional breathing test
  • Regular use of prescribed medications
  • smoking cessation
  • Healthy lifestyle: healthy food, physical activity
