''Nairi'' Medical Center has been cooperating with the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Health for three years, helping to organize exceptional neurosurgical surgeries aimed to restore the health of ex-servicemen.

Dr. Arman Hakobyan,MD,PhD ,Neurosurgeon, the head of the Endoscopic Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery Services, told about the exceptional surgery at “Nairi” Medical Center.

"Another operation was performed recently. The soldier, who took part in the four-day war in Artsakh, had a gunshot wound, as a result of which exactly half of the bones of the skull and face were missing. The patient was operated. However, after the operation, the patient was ashamed to go out and meet his relatives and friends because of a major disfiguring defect of the bones of the face and skull.

In other medical institutions it was not possible to repair the defect with general surgery, so the patient was referred to ''Nairi'' Medical Center.

This is the 10th or 11th clinical cases, for the treatment of which we are cooperating with the Ministry of Defense. The advantage of this is that the images of the patient's brain layer examination we send to a relevant foreign organization, with the help of which a mirror copy of titanium plate in 3D modeling is made according to the patient's bone defect and which is then placed in the patient’s face and skull bones defected regions.

The team of surgeons, in collaboration with the maxillofacial surgeons, performed the operation to restore the defect of both cranial and facial bones.

The operation was successful, the patient is recovering. This proves once again that it is currently possible to perform a surgery of any complexity in the Republic of Armenia.”
