A neurologist specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of disorders affecting the central and peripheral nervous systems.
A neurology consultation may be recommended in cases of headaches, dizziness, numbness, weakness in the limbs, back or neck pain, movement or sensory disturbances, memory changes, sleep disorders, and other neurological symptoms.
At Nairi Medical Center, neurology consultations are available along with neurological assessment and the coordination of any necessary laboratory and instrumental investigations, depending on the clinical case.
The Neurosurgery and Neurology Center was established in order to optimize the work of neurosurgery and neurological services, to improve the quality of medical services provided to profile patients. Being part of a multidisciplinary medical center, it has the opportunity to provide a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases of the central peripheral nervous system.
The bed fund consists of separate comfortable wards. The operating theatre is equipped with the most modern neurosurgical devices, which allow to perform unique neurosurgical interventions in the country, of any complexity.
In the field of neurosurgery for the first time in the Republic of Armenia we have used and actively introduced endoscopic skin (without incision) interventions. Currently, hundreds of endoscopic surgeries on both the head and the spine have been performed with favorable results.
Completeness with devices allows to perform surgeries to safely. It becomes available as a result of the use of methods such as neuronavigation, intraoperative neuromonitoring.

"Nairi" MC Neurosurgery-Neurology Center is the only one in Armenia that has the ability to provide high quality treatment in the field of stereotactic and functional neurosurgery, possessing high-quality skills and modern devices.
"Nairi" MC is the only one in the country where awake brain surgeries are performed with the patient's clear consciousness, providing appropriate anesthesiologic conditions, enabling direct mapping of the brain, which minimizes the occurrence of postoperative complications (speech, motor, sensory functions, etc(..
The following surgeries are performed in the center
- Tumors of the brain and spine,
- hypophysis neoplasms,
- craniocerebral injuries,
- 3D modeled titanium sheet cranioplasty plate,
- surgical Treatment of Parkinson's Disease,
- spinal hernias, stenosis,
- Endoscopic cementation of vertebral fractures;
- fixation of the spine;

- Electroencephalography (EEG), stereo-EEG (SEEG);
- Intraoperative neuromonitoring;
- Open-closed mapping of the brain;

Frequently Asked Questions
In practice, there is no difference: “neuropathologist” is an outdated term, while “neurologist” is the term used in modern medical practice. This specialist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and providing follow-up care for disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems.
To book an appointment with a neurologist, you may call 89 00 or visit Nairi Medical Center at 21 Paronyan Street, Yerevan. If you have results of previous examinations, medical reports, or laboratory tests, it is advisable to bring them with you on the day of your visit.
At Nairi Medical Center, neurological consultations and treatment for children are not provided by a neurologist. Neurological conditions in children are generally managed by a pediatric neurologist. If the issue concerns a child’s development, seizures, headaches, sleep disturbances, or motor or behavioral changes, it is recommended to consult an appropriate pediatric specialist.
Home visits by specialists are not provided at Nairi Medical Center. To receive a neurology consultation, it is necessary to schedule an appointment in advance and visit the medical center. This is also important because additional diagnostic tests may be required during the neurological evaluation, and these are performed in a clinical setting.
A neurologist evaluates and diagnoses a wide range of neurological conditions, including headache syndromes, migraine, neuropathies, radiculopathies, neurological complications of osteochondrosis, motor and sensory disturbances, consequences of cerebrovascular disorders, seizure syndromes, and other neurological diseases.
Depending on the clinical picture, a neurologist may recommend brain or spine MRI, CT, electroencephalography, electroneuromyography, duplex vascular ultrasound, laboratory tests, and other additional investigations. The choice of tests depends on the symptoms, their duration, the findings of the neurological examination, and any coexisting medical conditions.
