Lymph nodes play a crucial role in the body’s immune defense, and their changes may indicate various diseases. USG helps determine the size, structure, and elasticity of lymph nodes, as well as detect inflammatory processes or tumor-related changes.

Which Lymph Nodes Are Examined?

Lymph node ultrasound can be performed on different body areas, depending on medical indications:

Cervical lymph nodes – examined for infections, inflammations, tumors, or thyroid gland diseases.
Preauricular and postauricular lymph nodes – checked when ear, scalp, or salivary gland diseases are suspected.
Submandibular and submental lymph nodes – evaluated for dental problems, infections, and tumors.
Axillary (armpit) lymph nodes – examined in cases of breast diseases or inflammatory conditions.
Inguinal lymph nodes – assessed when there is suspicion of genital, urinary infections, or tumor-related processes.
